Hi all !

I hope everyone had a great holiday !

I just got a new book, "Safety in the Handling of Cryogenic Fluids". I'm soon going to be in the possession of some large quantities of Liquid Oxygen, Liquid Nitrogen and Liquid Methane: So if anyone has every had the urge to play with very very very cold (-200C) stuff let me know. There's lots of cool little experiments and demonstrations one can do.

All this relates to a project I'm embarking on this year. I've started a blog about it, http://www.colinsxlander.blogspot.com This blog is very technical and deals mostly with the design and testing of liquid rocket engines: So I won't post anything here about it, because well, most of you probably don't care.

Other then that, I spent a whack of time downloading and installing Microsoft's Visual Studio Express, all to do a quick bit of OpenGL programming. What a piece of crap !! Aside from being huge, slow and useless, my OpenGL program crashed for no good reason.. arrrg That will be the last time I use a Microsoft product for any reason. I'll be installing Gentoo on my backup laptop tonight. I wish I could ditch Winblows, but a few of my work programs only come in Win, and dual booting a laptop is a pain in the ass. *sigh*.. I wish I could find a good laptop that had two HDs...

Well, I'm off to read. I'll be seeing some of you on new years, everyone else I hope you have a good time too !!

Hi all !

I've been meaning to get a whole lot of info published on the web, but lacking time to build a site from scratch I'm going to try to use LJ. Most of what I want to post is in relation to my hobbies and the many cool projects that ensue. I'm whats called a Midnight Engineer, or if your a comic fan, I'm the real life Tinkerer.. maby a little more benevolent ;).

As for blogging and such, well, I won't boar you with the day to day details. I intend to post quality info only.

DISCLAIMER: Most of the hobbies and projects I play with are dangerous !! Don't try to reproduce anything you see here unless you actually know what your doing. I won't be held responsible if you blowup, burn, electrocute, cut or otherwise hurt yourself. The human body, while a magnificent machine, is very fragile.

Some of the topics I intend to post about will include experimental rocketry, electronics, power tools, exotic weaponry, high voltage, machining and fabrication, composites, cars, trucks, and anything else with a motor. ;P

Well thats it for now.
